Fifty-Four UW Athletes Graduating in 33 Majors

This evening, Thursday, May 13, the University of Wyoming Athletics Department will hold a special reception for its student-athletes who are graduating in the spring and summer of 2021. A total of 54 Cowboy and Cowgirl student-athletes are scheduled to graduate this spring and summer, with either their undergraduate or graduate degrees. A total of 14 of Wyoming’s 17 NCAA-sanctioned sports are represented in this group of graduates, along with members of UW’s spirit squad and two graduate assistant coaches. UWyoming Golfers Advance to the 2021 U.S. Open Final Qualifying Round

Wyoming’s John Murdock and Kirby Coe-Kirkham both advanced to the 2021 U.S. Open Final Qualifying round when they each placed in the top five individuals at the Walnut Creek Golf Preserve Local Qualifier in Westminster, Colo., this week. Murdock tied for second in the Walnut Creek Local Qualifier, firing a 71 (-1).  Coe-Kirkham shot a 72 (Even) in regulation and tied with two other individuals for fifth place.  Since only a maximum of five individuals could advance to the final qualifying round from the Walnut Creek Local Qualifier, Coe-Kirkham had to win a playoff against Kory Harrell of Denver and Daniel Sutton to earn […]

Five Local Players selected for WY/MT All Star Game

Sheridan High School Head Coaches Ryan Sullivan and Jeff Martini have announced the Wyoming Girls and Boys Rosters for the annual Wyoming-Montana All Star games. The contests are set for June 11 at Sheridan College’s Golden Dome and at Lockwood High School in Billings on June 12th. Five local players, from Wyoming Indian, Lander Valley, Riverton and Worland high schools were selected for the Wyoming All Stars (see rosters below). CWC ESports team came up short in National Semifinals

The first CWC eSports season came to an end on Monday with our Call of Duty Gunfight team losing in the national semi-finals. Erik Shafer and Rylen Steckelberg had a great season and only lost one game all season. Central had three teams/individuals make it to the playoffs in two different games this season. ESports Coach Adam Simon stated, “making it this far is a big accomplishment, given this was our first season competing. Wyoming basketball inks JC All-American from Idaho

University of Wyoming head basketball coach Jeff Linder announced on Friday the signing of Junior College All-American Deng Dut of the College of Southern Idaho. A native of Melbourne, Australia, Dut is the first Junior College All-American player to wear the Brown and Gold since fellow Australian Nathan Sobey (2012-2014). Brown tops Gold in Cowboy Spring Game Saturday

Saturday’s Brown and Gold Game featured a great game, with a great fanbase in attendance on a beautiful day at War Memorial Stadium.  In the end, the Brown Team won the game 30-17 over the Gold Team in front of an enthusiastic group of fans who enjoyed a sunny day in the upper 50s to low 60s. Shoshoni’s Truempler signed with Minnesota College

From Wyopreps.com All-star athlete Tryston Truempler of Shoshoni will be headed to Minnesota West College in Granite Falls. In football, Truempler had a sensational senior season with the Wranglers as he threw for 924 yards and 14 touchdowns with just 3 interceptions. He also ran the ball for 738 yards and 11 TDs. He was a monster on defense with 127 tackles and was named the 1A 9-man Defensive Player of the Year. Truempler also made the 1A-9 man all-state list. Cowgirl Golf Wrapped up 2021 season

The Wyoming Cowgirl golf team recently wrapped up its 2021 golf campaign after closing out the season at the Mountain West Conference Championship in Rancho Mirage, Calif. As a team, the Cowgirls finished in the top 12 of every tournament competed in during the season which included two top ten finishes. In their highest tournament finish at the Southern Utah Thunderbird Invitational, they placed seventh out of 15 teams with a 38-over 614. Wyoming Spring Game Saturday in Laramie

Wyoming Football spring practice will conclude this coming Saturday, May 8 with the Brown and Gold Game.  The game will kick off at 2 p.m. from Jonah Field at War Memorial Stadium and will be free and open to the public.  Tailgating activities in the Ford Stadium Lot will begin at 10 a.m. and gates to the stadium will open at 1 p.m. with numerous concession options available to fans. Rustlers Competed at Last Spring Rodeo in Greeley; Hartley Heading to CNFR

The Central Wyoming College Rustlers finished their regular season after traveling to Greeley, CO this past weekend to compete at the Skyline Stampede Rodeo hosted by the CSU Rodeo Team. Leading the way on the points team was Bekah Hartley. She placed second in the long round of Barrel Racing with a 17.96-second run and fourth in the short round with a 17.84-second run. Two Cowboy Golfers score top 25 finishes at MW Finals

Wyoming junior Bryce Waters fired a final round of 67 (-5) on Saturday at the Mountain West Championship in Tucson, Ariz., to tie for 19th place.  Sophomore Kirby Coe-Kirkham shot an even-par round of 72 on Saturday to tie for 23rd, and the Wyoming Cowboys finished ninth as a team in the 11-team field.
