COVID Cases Among Cheer Team Result in UW Actions

September 24, 2020 Three positive cases of COVID-19 and several close contacts among the cheer team in the University of Wyoming Department of Athletics have prompted the university to take action to limit the spread of the virus in that group of students, employees and the broader community. The approximately 40-member team will not engage in any athletic activities — including practice, workouts and in-person meetings — and they are encouraged to shelter in place where possible, limiting contacts to people with whom they live, through Wednesday, Sept. 30. CWC Rodeo Results from LCCC this past weekend

The Rustler Rodeo Team traveled to Cheyenne this past weekend to compete at the LCCC Shawn Dubie Memorial Rodeo. Three Rustlers represented CWC in the short round. Two freshmen, Bekah Hartley and Kaden Berger for the second week in a row.  Leading the way for the Rustlers was  Berger of Gillette, placed 5th in the Steer Wrestling. He threw his long round steer in 10.1 seconds, which brought him back in the last position to the short round. Basketball and Wrestling Plans Approved for Wyoming High Schools

The Wyoming High School Activities Association (WHSAA) has announced in a news release that the Wyoming Department of Health (WDH) has approved the WHSAA plans for beginning basketball and wrestling on time.  The format from the fall sports was used to provide protocols for students to safely participate in these two sports. Rustlers Competed in First Rodeo of the Season

For the first time in almost a year the Central Wyoming College Rustler Rodeo Team hit the road. This past weekend they went to Chadron, Nebraska to compete at the first of 10 scheduled regional rodeos. When it was all said and done CWC was able to claim the number one spot in the Barrel Racing. CWC Rustler Runners hosted Tri-Meet Saturday

CWC hosted it’s first tri-meet of the 2020-21 season over the weekend.  Competing against the Rustler squads were Colorado Mountain College and the College of Southern Idaho. Pokes in the Pros: What to Look for in NFL Week Two

The first week of the NFL season saw 12 former Cowboys see action. This week’s NFL slate sees Pokes in the Pros featured in 12 contests with three of those contests being aired on national television. Logan Wilson started off the week on Thursday with a contest against the Cleveland Browns on NFL Network. Cleveland won. Classic Pokes vs. Aztecs Saturday at 1 p.m.

This week’s edition of Cowboy Football Classics features one of the better Cowboy road wins in recent memory.  It was Oct. 29, 2011, when the Pokes overcame an early deficit, and then outlasted San Diego State, 30-27 at Qualcomm Stadium.  It was a coming-out party for freshman quarterback Brett Smith who threw for 341 yards and two touchdowns and ran for two touchdowns to lead the Pokes.  He overcame quite a performance by Aztec running back Ronnie Hillman who rushed for 228 yards and two touchdowns.  Wyoming did not commit a turnover in the game, and shut out San Diego […]
