High School Friday Scores; Three County Teams win

Here are the scores from Fremont County Football action Friday. Emerging victorious on the gridiron were Lander Valley, Riverton and Shoshoni. The Wyoming Indian Chiefs play at the Cody Broncs JV at noon Saturday and the St. Stephens Eagles play at the Dubois Rams Saturday at 2pm. With the wins, Lander Valley’s record moves to 5-1 overall and 2-0 in conference, Riverton’s overall mark is now 3-3 and 2-1 in conference, and Shoshoni moved its record to 3-3 and 2-1 in Conference. Weather forced CWC Soccer to re-set schedule: Saturday and Sunday home games now

Due to the recent winter storm across the Region, a few teams are having issues with playing fields and travel.  As a result, we had to cancel the games that were scheduled for Friday and move them to Sunday. Central will now be playing Western Nebraska on Saturday, October 12 at 2pm and 4:30pm at Riverton High School, and will play Northeastern Junior College on Sunday, October 13 at 12pm and 2pm at RHS.

High school football in Wyoming is now entering its sixth week. After this week, only two more weeks to go before the state playoffs begin. In Fremont County, the Riverton Wolverines will be hosting the Torrington Trailblazers tonight, the Lander Valley Tigers are on the road at the Rawlins Outlaws and in a big rivalry game, the Shoshoni Wranglers will be hosting the Wind River Cougars. It was a busy weekend for Central Wyoming College Athletes with the Golf,, Rodeo, Soccer and Volleyball teams all in action. See the results of each below Golfers End Fall Season at Lamar – Girls Win 6th Straight The Central Wyoming College men’s and women’s golf teams travelled to Lamar, Colorado over the weekend to participate in their last tournament of the Fall season. Cowgirls get Soccer Sunday victory in Colorado Springs

Behind a late second half goal by senior Summer Taube, the Wyoming soccer team (5-4-3, 2-2-0 MW) defeated the Colorado College Tigers (7-3-0, 2-1-0 MW) by a final of 3-2 on Sunday afternoon in Colorado Springs. Both teams came out fired up to begin the match with the Tigers striking first. Poke Golfers finished third at Denver Invitational

Another strong team effort by the Wyoming Cowboy golf team earned the Pokes a third-place finish at the Ron Moore Intercollegiate on Sunday in Highlands Ranch, Colo.  It is the third top five tournament finish of the 2019 fall season for the Cowboys.  UW finished at 850 (-2).  The Cowboys had four individuals place in the top 20, led by sophomore Kirby Coe-Kirkham, who tied for seventh with a three-round total of 208 (-5). It was just that kind of exciting night in Fremont County high school football. Austin Haslem’s 35 yard field goal attempt with 0:04 left in the game sailed wide right preserving Shoshoni’s upset 24-22 win over the Rocky Mountain Grizzlies at Cowley Friday night. At Bill Bush Stadium in Lander, the county’s biggest rivalry also came down to a field goal attempt. Fremont County’s Week 5 high school football games includes the big rivalry between Riverton and Lander. This year’s game will be played in Lander’s totally refurbished Bill Bush Stadium, featuring a new turf field, and new spectator stands, among other improvements. Lady Rustlers Golf Team extended win streak

The men’s and women’s golf team made the trek to La Junta, CO over the weekend to golf at the Otero Junior College Tournament.  The Lady Rustlers came out on top, taking their winning streak to 5 in a row.  The team was led by Freshman Kyra Sponenburgh of Evanston, WY with an 79-83-162 finish.  This is Kyra’s seconf first place finish of the season.  Behind her in 3rd place was teammate Rosslyn Brownell with an 85-84-169 finish, Lexi Cornell (5th) with an 89-85-174 finish and Jordan Vanetti (6th) with an 89-88-177 finish.  The women’s team placed first by finishing 56 strokes ahead of NJC.  Central’s […]

CWC Soccer headed to Sheridan and Gillette

Riverton, Wyo. – The Central Wyoming College men’s and women’s soccer teams traveled to Colorado over the weekend, and came home 0-2.  The men’s team lost to Otero Junior College (9-1), and again to Trinidad State Junior College (5-0).  Gerson Lozano had the single goal for the men’s team.  The women’s team lost to Otero (3-0) and to Trinidad (7-1).  Nicole Davis had the goal on the women’s side.  The Rustlers continue to improve and look forward to competing against others in our conference according to coach Brooks Pasket.
