Dreams in Motion Benefit Scramble had 52 golfers

Dreams in Motion hosted its first fundraising golf tournament on July 17 at the Riverton (Wyoming)Country Club. The 4-man scramble drew 13 teams (52 players) for a fun-filled 18-hole round that included an opportunity to win $10,000 on a hole-in-one on No. 16. along with putting and pin prizes. Dreams in Motion (DiM) is a 501C3 non-profit organization. The organization’s mission is to honor transplant recipients and cancer patients of all ages in Wyoming and Utah who have battled life-endangering illnesses. Valladay, Cryder, Muma named to MW Preseason All- Conference Team

The Mountain West Conference announced its 2021 Preseason All-Conference football team on Thursday in conjunction with 2021 Mountain West Media Days in Las Vegas, Nev.  Three University of Wyoming juniors were named to the team.  Running back Xazavian Valladay, center Keegan Cryder and linebacker Chad Muma were all named to the Preseason All-Mountain West team in voting by conference media members. The annual “Wyoming Coaches Foundation North-South All-Star Games” are this weekend Casper College, according to a news release reported by Wyopreps.com. All-Star Director with the Wyoming Coaches Foundation Grant Patik announced a few changes to the rosters, plus a coaching change, and spelling corrections on Monday, July 19. Also released on Monday were the officials, who have been selected to work these all-star games. Julie Irvine and Heidi Linford will officiate the volleyball match. The Mountain West Conference kicked off its 2021 Media Day events on Wednesday at The Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas, Nev., with the announcement of the preseason Predicted Order of Finish as selected by conference media members.  The Wyoming Cowboys were selected to finish second in the Mountain Division, receiving a total of 115 points and two first-place votes.  Boise State was picked to finish first in the Mountain Division with 148 total points. Wyoming’s Valladay on another preseason watch list

University of Wyoming junior running back Xazavian Valladay was named to the Doak Walker Award Preseason Watch List by the PwC SMU Athletic Forum on Wednesday. The Forum annually presents the award to the nation’s top college running back.  This marks the second straight year that Valladay has been named to the exclusive list. St. Stephens announces new Head Football Coach

Billy Brost, the Eagles’ head football coach since 2017 and also the school’s track coach, resigned Tuesday to become the athletic director at his alma mater, The Dalles High School, a Class 5A school in north-central Oregon. University of Wyoming head basketball coach Jeff Linder announced Monday the addition of Marc Rodgers to the staff as the Director of Recruiting. Pokes to Play Stanford in Hawai’i Holiday Basketball Classic

It’ll be an exciting opening-round game for the Cowboy basketball team at the Diamond Head Classic in Honolulu during the Holidays.  It was announced Thursday that the Pokes will play Stanford in the first round of the Classic on Dec. 22, at the SimpliFi Arena at Stan Sheriff Center.  Wyoming will be matched up with either Liberty or Northern Iowa in the second round.  BYU, South Florida, Vanderbilt, and Hawai’i, also are in the tournament which runs through Dec. 25.  Stanford and Wyoming have not met on a basketball floor since Dec. 4, 1980. Vintage Base Ball Tourney captured by Lander

The Vintage base ball team from Lander won this year’s South Pass City tournament with a 7-1 victory over Hudson on Sunday afternoon. Brian Oland had the big stick for Lander, punching a three-run home run in the 5th inning to put the game out of reach. Oland was also the winning pitcher in the championship game.
