Lady Chiefs, Worland win the Big Horn Basin Shootout

For the third time in the last four years, the Wyoming Indian Lady Chiefs emerged from the Big Horn Basin Shootout as champions. The Lady Chiefs topped Worland 78-56 in the Title Game. Jaden Ferris led all scorers with 23 points in the title game. Wyoming Indian reached the finals with wins over Lander Valley 42-36, 65-45 over Thermopolis, and 58-27 over Shoshoni. Final Score: Central Wyoming- 69 Eastern Wyoming- 65 Individual scoring: James Woods- 20 points, 3 rebounds; Darius Guinn- 12 points, 10 rebounds; Jerroda Briscoe 10 points, 3 blocks; Jacob Smith- 9 points, 4 rebounds; and Jaylon Gentry- 8 points, 5 rebounds. Rustlers split with LCCC; Guinn hits 19 for the Men

The Central Wyoming College Rustlers came from two points behind at half-time and outscored Laramie County Community College 44-31 in the second half to secure an 80-69 win Thursday night in Riverton. The Rustlers had four players in double figures led by Darius Guinn with 19, James Woods with 17, Jaylon Gentry with 16 and Jerroda Briscoe with 12. McElory To Compete In National Meet for Wings of America Native Team

Today a young lady from Wyoming Indian High School, Larissa McElory, enrolled Arapaho and sophomore at WIHS, left for San Diego to compete in the USTF Cross Country National Meet.  She is a member of the elite “Wings of America” native team. McElory is the only student athlete selected from the Northern Plains.  Larissa is a track and field state champion in the 3200 meters, and a team member of the first ever State Champion Wyoming Indian Lady Chiefs Cross Country Team. Central Wyoming College’s Men’s and Women’s basketball teams headed to Gillette College over the weekend after a tough losses at home to #19 Casper College last week. It was a game a long time in the making when two Native American Reservation teams from two states got together for an evening of friendship, food and, of course, basketball. The location was Wyoming Indian High School at Ethete, home of the Lady Chiefs and Chiefs versus the boys and girls teams from Lodge Grass, Montana, known as the Indians. The 14-2 Casper College Thunderbirds got off to a fast start at Rustler Gym Wednesday night and went on to a 103 to 90 win over Central Wyoming College before a standing room only crowd.
