Tigers come away from Jackson with optimism for the Conference Schedule

One week after Lander Valley's first of the back-to-back games against Jackson Hole High School in consecutive weeks, which were runaways, this time in Jackson, the games were much closer. The Lady Tigers improved their record to 5-3 with 54-34 win over the Jackson girls while the Tigers slipped to 2-6 with a 63-47 loss to the Broncs. Last week in Lander, the Lady Tigers triumphed 63-34 but Jackson played a much better game in the home gym but still lost 54-24. Ellis’ Game-Winner Leads Cowgirls Past Air Force

LARAMIE, Wyo. (Jan. 15, 2022) – Allyson Fertig hit Grace Ellis on a game-winning layup with 2.7 seconds left Saturday afternoon as the Wyoming Cowgirls escaped with a thrilling, 57-54 victory over Air Force inside the Arena-Auditorium.   Wyoming (6-7, 2-2 MW) went up 54-49 with 25 seconds left on a pair of McKinley Bradshaw free throws and looked to be in control. Brink goes 3-0 on the weekend in singles action for Cowgirls

TULSA, Okla. (Jan. 16, 2022) – The Wyoming tennis team completed competition at the Tulsa Hurricane Invite Sunday, closing play with the doubles’ portion of its match against Montana State, which began Saturday and ending with a match against host-Tulsa.   The Golden Hurricanes defeated the Cowgirls 6-1 Sunday morning. Noesjka Brink continued her strong play over the weekend, as she picked up the Cowgirls’ lone win against Tulsa. Brink defeated Shura Poppe 6-3 and 7-6 to pick up her third singles victory of the invite. Brink has won all four of her singles’ matches to begin dual play this season. [...]

Wolverines start conference season 1-0 with win against Cody

Tanner Johnson’s 16 points against the Cody Broncs gave the push the Riverton Wolverines needed on Saturday for a 46-42 win in Riverton.  Johnson got an early three fouls in the first half but did not get another foul the rest of the game.  Neither team could get much of a lead in the first half. The Wolverines took an early 12-9 lead after one quarter and that was the largest lead in the first half.  Johnson did not play much of the second quarter because of his early foul trouble.  Entering halftime the Wolverines trailed by one point 23-22.  [...]

UW Cheer Team at National Championships Today

The University of Wyoming Cheer Team will be competing at the 2022 Universal Cheerleaders Association (UCA) College Cheerleading National Championships on Friday, Jan. 14.  The championships are being held at Disney’s Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando, Fl Semifinal competition will begin at 12:45 p.m., Mountain Time on Friday in the Field House building. The #19 Wyoming Cowboy Wrestling squad is back in action on Friday in the Arena-Auditorium as they take on #10 Iowa State at 7:00 PM. Wyoming Head Football Coach Craig Bohl named 2022 AFCA President

Wyoming head coach Craig Bohl will lead the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) in 2022 as president of the organization. Bohl, who moves up from first vice-president, succeeds outgoing president Pat Fitzgerald of Northwestern. Bohl was elected president by members attending the Association’s 2022 Convention today.  (Brookings, SD) - Eight Cowboys were in action Sunday afternoon facing opponents from both Northern Iowa and South Dakota State in a series of individual matches.
