Riverton Wolverine wins sportsmanship award

RIVERTON – This past Tuesday at the Fremont County School District Board #25 meeting a special presentation occurred with Riverton Wolverines’ star wide receiver and solid cornerback Ty Sheets.

The Wolverine has had a solid season so far, grabbing four interceptions–including a pick-six–to go along with his double-digit receptions on the year.

Only three games into the season it has been obvious that Sheets has been dominant on the defensive end, and the offensive to a point, but not many awards are given out for being the best on the team in anything for the first three games.

With that said, Sheets did receive a very special award for what he has done on the field so far this season.

Sheets received the Wyoming High School Activities Association (WHSAA) Good Sportsmanship award at the meeting and was presented with a certificate for his behavior against opposing teams and referees during the first three games.

The Wolverines’ superstar with the hands was nominated by both the Powell Athletic Director after Riverton’s 50-13 loss to open up the season and the officials at previous games.

Superintendent Dr. JoAnne Andre-Flanagan said that Sheets receiving this recognition “brings honor to the school and community.”

Sheets received the award due to his senseless behavior on the field when he “goes out of [his] way to bea  good sport, win or lose.”

Congratulations Ty! We can’t wait to see what else you bring to the table this season!
