The lights twinkle, the fireworks soar, and Santa rides tall on the firetruck to light the Centennial Park Christmas tree. Light Up Lander is around the corner, and the deadline to sign up to be part of the community parade is coming on Monday, November 28.

“Come in and join us, and have the community spirit of Christmas,” explained Lander Mayor and Light Up Lander organizer Monte Richardson. “That’s what it’s all about.”

The parade, on December 3 beginning at 6 p.m., features all sorts of hand-crafted floats, lighted up along Main Street. Every year it attracts thousands of people and families from Lander and beyond, who know it’s one of the most special Christmas traditions around.

Those who are interested in being part of the parade may sign up by mailing an entry form to Monte Richardson, PO Box 128, Lander, WY, 82520, or by emailing debbierichardson@hotmail.com. There is no entry fee, and entries must be made by November 28 at 5 p.m. Entry forms and additional contact information may be found on the city of Lander’s website, landerwyoming.org.

Parade entries will gather and be lined up in the Palace Pharmacy parking lot by 5 p.m., and the parade will begin at 6 p.m. at the corner of Baldwin and Main and proceed down Main to the tree lighting ceremony in Centennial Park. And, please note, Santa will be in the parade riding the firetruck, so no impostors are needed. Inflatable Santas are allowed.
