Assault investigated; Two arrests made

Lander Police responded to 18 calls for service on Tuesday. Items of note from the call log: An assault is under investigation on McFarlane Drive on a complaint that a man wearing nothing but a towel had been beaten-up. He was transported by ambulance to SageWest Health Care – Lander. Arrests/Citations David Mullen, 35, Washington State, Arrested. Driving Under the Influence and Possession of a Controlled Substance – Marijuana Pamela Zidich, 55, Lander, Citation issued. No Drivers License and No Insurance. All persons arrested or cited are presumed innocent until convicted in a court of law.

Animal Abuse Complaint; Home break-in at Dubois

The Fremont County Sheriff’s Office reported receiving 63 calls for service on Tuesday, including 11 ambulance calls and four fire calls. No one was booked into the detention center which has a population of 117 inmates that it is responsible for. There were no arrests by deputies. Items of note from the call log include: A complaint was received that four horses in the Dubois area were not being looked after. A trespassing incident near Lander is under investigation. Puppy Scam nets $2,500; Thefts; Five Arrests

Riverton Police responded to 51 calls for service on Wednesday. Items of note from the call blotter include: A Riverton resident is out $2,550 due to a scam over sale of a puppy. Police took a report. A stolen vehicle from Casper was recovered after its owner found it, out of gas, and parked along the 800 block of North Federal. The Fremont County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch Center in Lander reported taking 52 calls for service on Monday, including four ambulance calls and 12 fire calls. Lander Police responded to 15 incidents on Monday. Several instances of vandalisms were reported to vehicles on Monday. In one case, on East Main Street, a windshield was broken and in a second incident, on South 1st Street, a woman’s car had its back window and sunroof smashed out. Police remind city residents that fireworks on the 4th of July are allowed in the city limits beginning at 10 a.m. through 12 Midnight. Riverton Police responded to 38 calls for service on Monday. A fight reported in the 800 block of South Federal Boulevard is under investigation. Details were redacted from the police blotter. Lander Police responded to 36 calls for service over the weekend ending at 7 a.m. on Monday. From the call log… Central Bank and Trust in Lander reported a scam that cost a Lander man $3,000 and it was stopped before he sent another $2,000. The man was scammed from a woman on the Internet. The bank noticed the unusual activity and notified police. A woman reported the theft of $530 from her wallet. Police will conduct a follow-up investigation. A handgun was taken from an unlocked vehicle sometime during Sunday night/early Monday morning from an address on Welch Boulevard. The Lander Volunteer Fire Department responded to an oven on fire on South 5th Street. Mr. D’s Food Center reported an unknown suspect fled the store after threatening a clerk for receiving too small of a sample slushie.
