Riverton Police responded to 30 calls for service on Thursday. Items of note from the call log included: A unauthorized sign posted on the property of the Fremont County Justice Center in Riverton was removed. According to a RPD report, the sign read: “We The People Demand To See Any’s Inquest.” The sign referenced the death of Andy Antelope, who died September 21 after being shot by a police officer in front of Walmart after he allegedly attacked the officer with a knife. Lander Police answered 11 calls for service on Thursday. There was one call of note and no arrests indicated. Police provided traffic control where a Wind River Transportation Authority Bus became stuck on on West Main in front of the former Shopko store. The bus was towed back onto the roadway.

An ambulance was sent to the Lander Safeway Store on a report of an employee who nearly cut off their finger. A report of animal abuse on North 6th Street resulted in the owner of a dog being warned for keeping a dog chained up in the weather without shelter. The dog was taken inside. Police are investigating a home burglary reported in the 400 block of North 7th East. A rear window was broken to gain entry. An air compressor was reported stolen from the A&T Mobile Home Park. The compressor was noticed missing on just after 12 noon on Monday A resident of the Redwood Apartments reported the theft of medications from his apartment. An unlocked vehicle on Bonnie Brae Street resulted in someone entering the vehicle and taking a flashlight and a GPS unit, valued at $500. The theft was discovered shortly after 7 am. Monday morning. Police remind motorists if they value their belongings, not to leave them in plain sight and especially not in an unlocked vehicle. One shoplifting was reported. That of a $10 bottle of alcohol from the Maverik Country Store by an unknown male and female. Arrests Connelly BigKnife, 22, Ethete, Simple Assault and Public Intoxication Martin Guterrez, Jr, 28, Lander, Public Intoxication Roman Luevano-Veliz, 28, Washington State, Driving Under the Influence and Driving without Lights Tiffany Lopez, 28, Riverton, was served a LPD warrant while incarcerated at the Fremont County Detention Center All persons arrested are presumed innocent until convicted in a court of law.

The Lander Police Department said a new on-line scam appears to be floating around targeting rental properties. In a news release, the LPD said a local resident “found some of his properties listed on what appeared to be a fictitious website “housesforrent.ws.” See the release below:

Items of note from the blotter include: Officers turned into goat wranglers on Tuesday when a herd of about a dozen goats invaded a mobile home park on South Federal. According to a report, the goats were safely returned to their own pasture. A simple assault was reported at 40 Honor Farm Road. A report was taken and details of the incident were redacted.
