A truck hauling large bales of hay caught fire just outside of Lander on Sunday afternoon, closing Highway 789 for several hours while the fire was brought under control and the truck moved.

There were no reported injuries. Traffic was backup up westbound well past the Wypo corner and eastbound traffic was stopped all the way to the Wyoming Life Resource Center. Many motorists with local knowledge, turned around and bypassed the scene by using the Lyons Valley Road.
