School Board to consider school improvement plans, Wrestling room addition

The Fremont County School District #25 Board of Trustees will meet Tuesday evening at 7 p.m. at the Central Office with a full agenda. School improvement plans for Riverton Middle School and Frontier Academy are up for discussion, as is an out-of-state travel request to New York City by the American Heritage Program students. A bid for new computer purchase is also up for review.

A.        Consider an Administrative Recommendation to Approve Out-of –State Travel Request

Reggie Miller is recommending the Board approve an out-of-state travel request for American Heritage to travel to Boston and New York in March 2021.

*Superintendent’s recommendation: I recommend the Board approve the American Heritage to travel to Boston and New York in March 2021 as per policy and following all COVID-19 restrictions.

B.        Consider an Administrative Recommendation to Approve a School Improvement Plan

Aziz Waheed, Tyler Jordan and Jodi Ibach are requesting the Board approve the Riverton Middle School School Improvement Plan.  Riverton Middle School has been identified for Targeted Support and Improvement through the accountability model.

*Superintendent’s recommendation:  I recommend the Board approve the Riverton Middle School School Improvement Plan as presented.

C.        Consider an Administrative Recommendation to Approve a School Improvement Plan

Justin Taylor and Jodi Ibach are requesting the Board approve the Frontier Academy School Improvement Plan.  Frontier Academy has been identified for Comprehensive Support and Improvement through the accountability model.

*Superintendent’s recommendation:  I recommend the Board approve the Frontier Academy School Improvement Plan as presented.

D.        Consider an Administrative Recommendation to Accept a Grant

Jodi Ibach is requesting the Board accept the School Improvement Grant in the amount of $116,089.75.  The funds will be used to support the School Improvement Plans of Riverton Middle School and Frontier Academy.

*Superintendent’s recommendation:  I recommend the Board accept the School Improvement Grant in the amount of $116,089.75 for the 2020-2021 school year.

E.         Consider an Administrative Recommendation to Approve the Wrestling Room Enhancement

JoAnne Flanagan is requesting the Board approve an additional 1,200 square footage enhancement to the Riverton High School Wrestling Room.  The State Construction Department has approved and allocated funding for a 2,300 square foot wrestling room addition to Riverton High School.  The FCSD #25 Board of Trustees has verbally committed to a 1,200 square foot enhancement to be funded out of depreciation funds.  This will ensure that the addition meets the need of our wrestling program now and into the future.

*Superintendent’s recommendation: I recommend the Board approve the additional 1,200 square footage enhancement to the Riverton High School Wrestling Room to be funded out of depreciation funds and commit the district to providing funding for maintenance of the additional 1,200 square footage for the anticipated life span of the building.  Buildings have an anticipated life span of 50 years.

F.         Consider an Administrative Recommendation to Award Bid

Myron Peabody is recommending the Board award the bid for 200 Dell Latitude 7410 Laptops to Dell Technologies.  They submitted the only bid.

*Superintendent’s recommendation:  I recommend the Board award the bid for 200 Dell Latitude 7410 Laptops to Dell Technologies in the amount of $300,642.00.

G.        Consider an Administrative Recommendation to Offer Contracts

Interview teams are recommending the Board offer contracts to the following people:

            Blaze Sand                  RMS 7th Grade Head Girls’ Basketball Coach

            Joy Foster                   Spur Academy Virtual Instructor

*Superintendent’s recommendation:  I recommend the Board offer a contract to Blaze Sand as an RMS 7th Grade Head Girls’ Basketball Coach and Joy Foster as an Spur Academy Virtual Instructor for the 2020-2021 school year.

Joy is a highly recommended music teacher with experience working in virtual learning environments.  In addition to teaching music, she has also taught English to students in China and served on the Native American Student Services Staff at UNC Greeley.  She will be teaching Music Appreciation to Spur Virtual High School students.
