Riverton Schools Superintendent Dr. JoAnne Andre-Flanagan Tuesday night was all smiles as she presented a Wyoming High School Activities Association Good Sportsmanship Award to Brandon Kautz. A football player for the Wolverines, Flanagan said the nomination came from Athletic Director at Powell High School following Riverton’s opening game on the road several weeks ago.

“He said Brandon’s consistent positive encouragement of his team and support for his teammates throughout the game was what earned him the nomination,” Flanagan said, reading from the nomination form. Powell won the game 37-7. “It’s not that easy to be so positive when things are not going as well. That to me shows his leadership and character.”

In presenting the award, with both wearing masks and not shaking hands, the two did a simulated High Five to the delight of the audience.
