This week’s edition of Cowboy Football Classics features one of the better Cowboy road wins in recent memory. It was Oct. 29, 2011, when the Pokes overcame an early deficit, and then outlasted San Diego State, 30-27 at Qualcomm Stadium. It was a coming-out party for freshman quarterback Brett Smith who threw for 341 yards and two touchdowns and ran for two touchdowns to lead the Pokes. He overcame quite a performance by Aztec running back Ronnie Hillman who rushed for 228 yards and two touchdowns. Wyoming did not commit a turnover in the game, and shut out San Diego State in the fourth quarter. Union Wireless will be this week’s sponsor.
You can hear Cowboy Football Classics on the Wind River Radio Network’s KWYW 99.1 FM at 1 p.m. Saturday.
