Man Died in Sweetwater Station Motorcycle Crash

A motorcycle crash Thursday afternoon about two miles east of Sweetwater Station resulted in the closure of Wyoming 789 for a time while a helicopter landing zone was established on the highway for an injured party.

One man on the motorcycle was killed, according to the Wyoming Highway Patrol, a female passenger was injured.

As traffic backed up at the site, a two-vehicle crash was reported near the scene. Information on that crash is not available, but apparently there were no injuries.


Emergency crews from Lander and Riverton were dispatched to the scene, about 50 miles east of Lander and some 25 miles West of Jeffrey City.

Fremont County Fire Protection District Units, an AMR ambulance from Lander and Guardian Air Medical responded to the crash along with the Wyoming Highway Patrol.
