The Fremont County Commissioners will meet tomorrow (Tuesday, June 2, 9 a.m.) at the courthouse in Lander with budget discussions continuing.
County legislators are expected at the meeting to discuss the special session that was held virtually and in Cheyenne in Late May. The state is facing a severe budget shortfall, as are most counties and municipalities in the state.
On that topic, a meeting between the board and the county libraries is set for the afternoon session. A total of $600,000 dollars has been stripped from the county Library budget, which is seen as problematic by the libraries whose facilities are considered essential, especially for residents without internet access.
Chairman Travis Becker told Wyotoday.com this past wednesday Wednesday that the county needs to trim some 2.5 million from its proposed budget. He said the priority for funding will go to the statutory requirements such as public safety.
