The Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality announced over the weekend that the petroleum leak into the Middle Fork of the Popo Agie River in Lander was caused by the overfilling the underground gas tanks at the Maverik Country Store.

A concrete dam is being constructed between the underground tanks and the river to stop contaminants from seeping into the water.
