For the second time in the past week, a major fire hit in Riverton, this time a three bay metal building garage and shop on North Second West, just north of AD Martin Lumber and Lehman Studios on high school hill.

A large quantity of ammunition in the building was cooking off as fire consumed the entire large structure. Firefighters arrived at the scene and immediately began dousing the blaze with water. The fire was quickly knocked down.

Emergency vehicles were also visible on the hill above the fire scene watching to see that embers from the fire did not spread across an alley or up the adjacent hill. Adjacent structures were not threatened by the fire.

Fire investigators have not yet released the cause of today’s blaze. There were no reported injuries at the site.
