Snow, snow and more snow. A spring snow storm will continue piling up the white stuff in the Wind River Basin and Central Wyoming today. According to the National Weather Service Forecast office at Riverton Regional Airport, a Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect through 9 p.m. Friday night.

The Wyoming Highway Department reports Highway 28 over South Pass is closed due to winter weather conditions and several vehicle crashes. No unnecessary travel is recommended on US 287 from the Rawlins intersection south of Lander to Jeffrey City. Most other roads in the county are reporting snow, blowing snow and slick conditions.

Moderate to heavy snow is expected in the county, including two inches near Shoshoni, four to eight inches from Riverton to Hudson and from five to 10 inches between Riverton and Kinnear as a result of a narrow heavy snow band.

Winds will be gusting up to 25 mph in the open areas of the county. Travel conditions could be very difficult. Expect snow covered roads and limited visibilities, and use caution while driving. For current road conditions, dial 5-1-1.
